Sky Bike
Posted on 18. Nov, 2009 by Melanie Meyers.
Cozy Beehive recently wrote a post yesterday about a very cool human and pedal-powered sky ride – the Sky Bike! Since I posted another video about the human and pedal-powered PARKcycle earlier this week, I thought it would be appropriate to stick with the theme. The Sky Bike was inspired, in part, by none other than the old favorite E.T flying bike scene.
Enjoy! Hope your Hump Day goes flying by.

I have been following the blogs from the Globe Experience Project lately, and one blogger – Dan from San Francisco – posted this great video of the PARKcycle created by REBAR. The PARKcycle is part of the PARK(ing) Day idea.

NYC Cycling Way Up
Posted on 11. Nov, 2009 by Melanie Meyers.
Way to go NYC! One person interviewed in the video makes the point that cycling in NYC has increased so significantly in the last two years for two main reasons. The first is infrastructure improvement, which makes riding more comfortable, safe, and enjoyable. The second is the idea that more people riding encourages others to ride. Habits and trends come to be established over time in a group by living amongst others who do the same practice. So when more people “practice” cycling, it gradually becomes the norm. There is also a feedback between infrastructure improvements and more people cycling.
Bottom line – NYC is doing something right and that’s good to see!
