This recent film from Streetfilms documents some useful techniques for developing shared space that is comfortable and convenient for many types of road users. The examples from London provide some interesting possibilities for balancing the needs of different road users without compromising much on the part of any one user.

Looks good. I wish we could have that in Surrey.
We need to fight against institutionalized motor-ism. Because that’s what we’ve got at the moment. Everything [well almost] is designed around the car.

Hi Amoeba,
Yes, that is what I found most encouraging about this video and the projects it describes – they do not prioritize the automobile above all else. I hope to see more of this in other places, and I too, wish we could have more of it here in Arizona.
