I've ridden a couple of area charity rides and have enjoyed them.

Some recreational cyclists are put off by the fact that some of the local teams use these rides as fast-paced training rides, but it doesn't take a lot of effort to let the guys/gals in team clown-suits shoot ahead and then ride at your own pace. Let them race while you get a good workout and see parts of the area you've never really seen before.

These rides are great at giving you new routes to ride on. I love learning about new-to-me roads that can be useful for cycling.
